DIY Video Marketing: Stepping up your audio game | #Jan30 13
One of my most recent videos asked the question, what do you want to find out more about during the Jan 30 series?
One of the most popular answers was DIY video marketing, a lot of people wanted to find out some more tips and tricks for filming on their phones.
Today I have a few options that you can use, from budget to slightly higher end options. All of which will improve your audio significantly.
Remember it’s always great to book a pro like myself and the team when it comes to really standing out but for getting your message out their and becoming a leader within your industry get straight on it with your DIY video marketing!
Here we go, option number one is using a lav mic.
You can pick up lav mics on amazing from around £15 and they’ll often just plug straight into your phone. They’re a brilliant way to capture audio as they’re close and direct.
Option two is using a recorder. This Sony TX650 in particular is one that I have used in past videos and then synchronised in post production. So if you’re using this option then make sure you have a basic editing program you can match everything in.
This one is great as it can used more like a microphone so if you’re doing an interview with someone and don’t have another way to mic them up then this is an awesome device to use.
My last option is this nifty thing, the Rode wireless GO, it does plug into your camera but that’s only the receiver. The mic has a clip so you can wear the mic. And a bonus is that you can plug in a lav mic to it as well which is a method I’ll often use for great sound. The advantage of the Rode is that you have freedom to move around and it all syncs up automatically. If you’re recording a presentation then this is going to be the ideal option.
One small pain with this microphone and the earlier mentioned lav mic is that you may have to buy an adapter like this for your phone to create a microphone input which will then allow you to actually capture everything.
All the links will be below and feel free to put a comment if you have any questions at all!
Hopefully this little video has helped all those that were asking me about improving filming on their phones. It’s great to see that the video got so much interaction and interest, hopefully I can encourage you all to get started or keep going with video content as it’s the best way to get your message across and show who you are online!
Thanks for watching today’s video! Speak to you soon.
