How to get better testimonials on video! | #Jan30 19

Everyone knows that testimonials are simply the best way to prove that the service you offer or the product you sell works!

Not only that it works, but also brings customers and clients a sense of joy and helps them solve whatever problem they needed to solve.

Now, written testimonials are great but it’s always better to take your review game to the next level and use video testimonials.

It is often the case that when a client or customers here’s the phrase “video testimonial” they are suddenly extremely busy or they’ll get it over to you next week aka never.

I totally understand the shyness that people have towards appearing on video. They might worry that they are going to say the wrong thing or they are simply haven’t had a good experience with cameras.

As business owners and marketers we know that video testimonials can be gold, especially when you know that you have done an amazing job for that client.

The trick to getting that good video testimonials is to simply work with the customer.

A rookie mistake many people make is just saying “oh by the way we’d love a video testimonial from you when you have a chance”.

While this can sometimes work it doesn’t work as well as the method I use to get quality video testimonials.

Instead of sending a cold email out to ask for that video, arrange a date and time for you and your customer to have a chat on zoom or Skype.

You could also have a colleague or friend help to talk with your customer if you are unable to.

This is the first step to a better testimonial; giving your customer someone to talk to is going to allow their testimonial to flow naturally.

Step two is coming prepared with some questions…

Rather than just asking the customer enjoyed about your product or service. Have questions prepared to guide them through the testimonial process and allow them to give open answers that you can use.

For example, if I am getting a video testimonial I’ll come with the questions

1. What product or service did you have from Yellow Glove Productions?

The viewer can’t always assume what product or service people have had from you so a good opener explaining what you’ve done for a customer is the perfect place to begin

2. How did you find working with us?

Allow your customer to share their experience, they can describe more specific details about what you did well and how their customer journey was.

3. Did you have a favourite moment during working together?

This is always a good one as it allow customers to open up in detail about how you are to work with. If you’re providing a service then it is great to include a questions like this when interviewing.

4. Was there something we did particularly well?

Get customers to highlight your strengths in their testimonials, they might be able to empathise keywords you’re looking for in the testimonial.

5. Any final words?

This question always gives the best answers; I think that once people are warmed up to the interview they forget about any pressure of the camera and they are able to be creative with the kind words they have to say.

And that’s the end of my tips for getting better video testimonials. I think this is something really useful for a lot of businesses especially now more people are acquainted with zoom!

Have another watch through, take some notes and let me know if you get some great video testimonials from your customers.

Thanks for watching today’s video, see you for another tomorrow. Bye for now!
