"I don't like being filmed" - A Case for Having a Wedding Videographer: Even When You Are Camera Shy

Here is a conversation that I have had at many Wedding fairs this year:

Me: “Hello there, have you got your Videographer booked yet?”

Potential Client: “Oh no thank you, I don’t like being filmed”

The client proceeds to run to the next stand before I can quickly convince them why they needn’t be worried about being camera shy. So today I am going to use the power of the Internet to explain why even if you are camera shy, a Videographer is still something you need.

One of our main strategies for getting the best video possible is being discrete; not standing out and making people aware that they are being film is a priority for us when it comes to getting shots for our wedding films. This means that the camera is not in your face at all and you won’t have to feel self-conscious about being on camera. Our lenses have a good range of distance so we can be on the other side of a room and still capture a great moment. Don’t worry, the camera won’t always be in front of your face, some of the day will be spent getting other shots such as the venue, decoration details, messages from your family and friends.

Posing couple for wedding video

Furthermore, if you are worried about posed shots, our posing is very minimal. A few scenes during morning prep, a few with your partner after the ceremony and then sometimes a few in the evening, but not always. We have had couples that have wanted us to pose them and some who have not wanted posing at all. Our Videography team is able to accomodate for any and every occasion!

So hopefully now you have read this, if I do see you at a wedding fair, our conversation will go something like this:

Me: “Hello there, have you got your Videographer booked yet?”

You: “No but I read your blog post and now I think I need to book with you guys!”

Well, in the ideal world ;)

But seriously, hopefully this blog post has given you an insight to how we work and why being camera shy is not going to be a barrier to having the video you deserve!

If you still are unsure about the idea of having a Videographer there to capture your day just contact us and we will be sure to answer all of your questions.
