Why regular video and photo marketing content works!

Jasper:
Okay. So how do we normally start this?

Matt:
Hello?

Jasper:
Hi there. Jasper from Yellow Glove Productions. Here with Matt Glover-

Matt:
From Matt Glover Photography.

Jasper:
Back for the next series of videos for ... I don't know how long it will go on for this time. We had a good run of them.

Matt:
Oh, these?.

Jasper:
Yeah, these videos.

Matt:
Yeah. We haven't done much rehearsals today, really, so we don't really know what we're talking about.

Jasper:
We've just been super busy, haven't we? At the moment.

Matt:
Yeah. We thought we'd do a video to reconnect with everyone, because even though we have been working together, it's just been insane really, hasn't it? And also wedding season came back. Wedding season came back, which is ... Well, it's mad with-

Jasper:
It's just busy. We're doing corporate work. Then we're doing weddings and then-

Matt:
I've decided to write a book as well. So yeah, I felt like I keep putting my wedding hat on, my brand photography hat on, my writing hat on. And then-

Jasper:
When people ask us what's going on? Everything is going on.

Matt:
There's lots and lots going on.

Jasper:
Recently, well ... Was it a month or two ago now? Whenever it was sunny, sunnier than this, I did a video for your book that's coming out.

Matt:
Oh, yes.

Jasper:
Did you wonder where I was going with that?

Matt:
Yeah, I daren't start talking, because I thought if you were talking about something else, I'd just be going off on a tangent. Yes. You filmed me picking wild garlic and then making wild garlic pesto-

Jasper:
And I tried some.

Matt:
Yeah. I did force it on him, actually. And he did really enjoy it. And I broke my NutriBullet in the process, actually, which was rather unfortunate. Yeah. So we started filming. So it's going to be like a series of ... They're almost like daytime TV, little light-

Jasper:
A bit Nigella, a bit ... I won't say Jamie Oliver-

Matt:
Not Jamie Oliver. It's introducing the idea of working on series of brand videos, isn't it, really? Because this will lead up to my book coming out next year, which ... Every time I say things like that, I think it just sounds really funny-

Jasper:
Very exciting.

Matt:
But yeah. So we we did the first one as an introduction and then we're going to do a series, aren't we?

Jasper:
Yeah. So a couple more. We'll definitely make it series and something to coincide with the marketing of ... because it's ... So the point we're going on with is, because it's a series, and it ties in quite nicely with filming for businesses and photographing businesses as well, because-

Matt:
It is brand video.

Jasper:
Yeah. So when you work with someone once, you establish that style, what's important to get on camera. What's important not to include on camera...

Matt:
When you edited it, you edited it as episode one, so it leaves it wide open for a sequel, Jasper.

Jasper:
I think we should do that with more of the business videos as well. Leave it on cliffhangers and things-

Matt:
Absolutely. This is the way way forward, because it is actually. It is telling a story. And I think, I suppose, because we work in brand photo and video, we really understand what is for. And, obviously, because we're in it, actually, it's quite nice steering ideas like this forwards, and hopefully other people with projects they're working on will catch onto this. This is a really good way to work and also build an audience.

Jasper:
When you work with someone on a regular basis, creating episodic content, or you're doing photos regularly, showing updates of new products, not only do we get to know someone's style and then put that across every time, but also your audience, the people you're trying to sell to-

Matt:
But it's also building your brand values and building up who you are online, really. And, I want to use the word ... Oh, I just thought of it and you talking and I didn't use it. Cohesive!

Jasper:
Cohesive. Oh, we're getting big words out.

Matt:
I don't think I could put it into a sentence. But, do you know what to mean?

Jasper:
Yeah.

Matt:
Can you put it into a sentence?

Jasper:
Yeah. Cohesive, full stop. Like drama [crosstalk 00:04:05].

Matt:
Right. Okay. So what we're saying is, obviously wedding season is with us right now, which is quite a crazy time. But, it's a good time to stop planning for September, October, because there's still-

Jasper:
Christmas. Christmas marketing. I'm going to say the "C" word. Get the tree up, I say. Get the tree up. We need it right now.

Matt:
If you were thinking about starting doing your brand photo and video, maybe working September, October time, now's the time to start planning and get the ideas laid out, isn't it, really?

Jasper:
That's it. And think about doing things like a series as well. We work together really well-

Matt:
Is this light going to have really affected-

Jasper:
Oh, we might be getting blown out. Sometimes businesses will come to us and I don't think that we'll know where to start, but once we get to know their business, we'll say, "We could do something based around that." Or, "What about that product over there?"

Matt:
Yeah. It's all about the planning structure, isn't it, really? And then you know the beginning, middle and end. But you don't know what that is until you spend the time planning, really. And then it comes together by just talking about.

Jasper:
That's it. So thank you for watching. It's great to be back. And we look forward to bringing you some more content.

Matt:
Have a cohesive Christmas.

Jasper:
Maybe we'll see you at Christmas.
