Print advertising for fmcg: Bringing a Mr Porky Tesco magazine Photo Ad to Life

At Yellow Glove Productions, we're all about crafting visuals that stand out—whether they’re moving or still. That’s why we were thrilled to see our latest photo ad work for Mr Porky take pride of place in the iconic Tesco Food magazine. Some might call it the Vogue of the supermarket food world, I’m sure they have.

A Collaboration with Creative Experts

This project gave us another fantastic opportunity to team up with the talented folks at Luke James Digital. Having previously worked together on video ads for Mr Porky, we were eager to build on that creative synergy and carry forward the table-top theme we’d developed with them. This time, though, we transitioned from motion to print, showcasing our ability to adapt and deliver high-quality visuals across different formats.

Pushing Boundaries with Bold Concepts

In this campaign, we not only stayed true to Mr Porky’s established aesthetic but also had the chance to explore some bold, colourful concepts. By incorporating vibrant hues and carefully arranged compositions, we brought the brand's personality to life in a way that feels fresh, modern, and irresistible to its audience. From concept to execution, every detail was designed to grab attention and align perfectly with Mr Porky’s fun and flavourful identity.

A Great Example of Collaboration with Small Agencies

This project is a perfect example of how we work seamlessly with agencies handling FMCG clients. By combining our technical expertise with their creative vision, we’re able to deliver results that make an impact. Whether it’s developing new concepts or adapting existing themes for different formats, our collaborative approach ensures the final product exceeds expectations.

Why Tesco Food Magazine?

Tesco Food magazine is more than just a publication; it’s a trusted source of inspiration for shoppers across the UK. To see our work featured in such a widely-read and respected platform is an honour and a testament to the strength of the collaboration between our team and Luke James Digital.

When is the Right Time for Media Spend? Planning TV, Print & Digital Ads

Choosing the right time and platform for advertising is crucial for maximising impact. While TV ads, digital campaigns, and out-of-home advertising each have their strengths, print advertising remains a powerful tool—especially when strategically placed.

TV ads provide broad reach, digital ads offer precise targeting, and social media enables real-time engagement. However, print advertising, particularly in high-circulation publications, brings credibility and strong brand association.

For Mr Porky, an opportunity arose to feature in Tesco Magazine, a trusted household name with massive distribution across the UK. This was an ideal placement as it reached a highly relevant audience—shoppers actively browsing for food products. Given the success of our previous video ads, extending the tabletop theme into print ensured brand consistency and reinforced the campaign’s messaging.

The Benefits of Print Advertising in Retail

  • High Engagement: Readers often spend time engaging with physical media compared to digital scroll-throughs.

  • Longevity: Unlike fleeting online ads, a print placement in a widely read publication ensures repeated exposure.

  • Targeted Audience: A supermarket magazine reaches shoppers in a buying mindset, making it a prime spot for food and drink brands.

  • Brand Trust & Authority: Being featured in a respected publication like Tesco Magazine reinforces brand credibility.

For brands looking to build awareness and influence purchasing decisions at the point of sale, print advertising remains a valuable investment—especially when combined with strong creative execution.

What’s Next?

Whether it’s a scroll-stopping social campaign, a captivating video ad, or a standout magazine feature, our goal is always the same: to bring creative concepts to life with precision and passion.
