Why Videography Is No Longer An Add On

Two Quick Reasons

It is a weekday evening, you have just got home from a long day of work and now it is time for the fun part of your day, time to plan your wedding. You look at your supplier list: Venue, tick. Catering, tick. Photographer, tick. Videographer, and then you think for a minute because maybe you do not see Videography as a necessary for your day. It is only in recent years that videography has become less about pointing a camera and shooting the action in front and become more of a creative and emotional way to capture your wedding day. My mission with this blog post is to change the way that you may see Videography; read the two quick reasons below to find out why I believe that videography is not an add on or an afterthought anymore, it is an essential.

Reason 1:

Videography is completely different from Photography

Now this one may sound obvious; Video and Photo are two different words, of course they are not the same service. The truth is that through not fault of their own Brides and Grooms may believe that a videographer is just going to film the shots that the photographer takes and then put them all together scene by scene, essentially having a video where everyone is posing for a photo and to even looking at the camera. If this was what I did then my job would be much much easier. Your Videographer will capture moments in the day that bring you back, they may pose you for the video specifically in order to get some creative bits to help set the mood for the video and the will edit the video in a way that is a completely different experience from going through your wedding album. Seeing yourself walking up the aisle, hearing the vows as you say them and watching yourselves sway to your first dance song when it is just the both of you, these are moments that a best seen and heard on your wedding video. The motion of video brings a whole new level of emotion.

Reason 2:

Videography is no longer VHS camcorders and cheesy transitions

Cameras have come a long long way since my parents had their Wedding day filmed. We now have access to high quality equipment as standard; access to stabilisers, 4K video, interchangeable lenses, the list goes on. The point is that the standard for Videography is now higher, good videographers are using their equipment to capture weddings in a more creative way that is not just point and shoot. Wedding Videography today allows couples to have their own personal part of history captured perfectly in a way that will still be loved in 10 years time. We take care in creating a video that is going to be timeless, this means none of those cheesy transitions (unless that is what you really really want of course) or grainy footage where you won’t be able to make out the face of Uncle Bob in 10 years time. Your video will be unique to you, full of those amazing moments from the day that have been carefully captured in order to keep your video timeless.
